I usually have vivid dreams, but I can also usually interpret them myself, as I understand that the subconcious draws symbolic meaning from things. However, this one has me stumped and I am looking for help.
Let me first preface this with some important information. Most importantly, I own three pet snakes, who are friendly and lovable. This is essential to understand because these snakes hold a different meaning to me as they are my pets, so it's not an ordinary snake dream, but rather a beloved pet dream. They are all also young and healthy (so there's no danger in reality of any harm coming to them). I have had about 4 or 5 dreams in the past year in which something or someone kills them in terrible ways. Most other things about the dream vary. It's always different locations and themes, and usually a different thing trying to kill them. Also, it's my two male snakes that are usually in danger.
Another thing is that I recently dated a guy for the first time in a long time, and broke it off a couple weeks later. I liked him a lot but it wasn't serious. We hadn't been boyfriend and girlfriend or anything, it was just a matter of him being younger and not wanting a serious relationship. I was the one who broke it off as I didn't feel I could stay casual or non-exclusive.
Last night's dream was the most disturbing one I've had, however, and so this is what has me seeking answers. Some aspects are hazy but I remember being in a large, lavish building, lots of red (my favorite color) and lots of attractive people around my age (26). It was some sort of function. The guy I most recently dated is there, and we are just kissing and walking around and having a good time (no sex or anything like that, just on a date, it seemed). I am suddenly somewhere else, and when I go up to find him there are attractive girls surrounding him. I try to push my way through, do things to get his attention, but nothing works and he ends up being weirded out by me and leaving with the other, more attractive girls.
It gets a bit hazy here, but I am with a friend now, trying to find my way through this sort of palace. I remember going back and fourth and around in circles a lot before I find "my room" in this place. When I go in, my female snake's tank is there, open. To my horror I look down and she has been torn to pieces, her bloody tail on the ground. While I have no recollection of feeding her in the dream, I instinctively felt as though a mouse or rat (their food) has done this to her. I pick up the gross, bloody pieces of her and cry for help, but I am alone and no one comes. I start crying uncontrollably, and this is where I woke up, crying in reality.
This was the worst dream I've had in a long time, and I am completely stumped as to what it means. My snakes are healthy and fine (I don't feed them live mice or rats so there's no danger of this happening in reality). In regards to the guy I was dating, I didn't believe there to be any serious feelings involved, as it was not a long-lasting or serious affair. He was the first person I had dated in a while though. Is my subconcious telling me different? I have none of these feelings while I'm awake. And what does my female snake's gruesome death have to do with anything? Somebody please help me make sense of this.
Maigan and I were working, like normal, and we ended up arguing about something (idk what). Big time fight. Huge argument, to the point where I walked out and quit my job. A few months later, I decide to come back to campus to visit, mend fences, what have you. When I get there, I find out that things have changed. Whatever we were arguing about, the argument that Maigan won, was apparently over making some sort of decision. When Maigan took your decision to the higher ups, they disagreed so much that they had fired her. So the day goes on as I'm visiting campus, and out of the blue, she ends up coming to campus to visit too. But she isn't there to mend fences. Maigan just wants to see the students. Somehow, we get roped into attending a meeting with Sarah, Deb, Rich, etc., and they rehash the whole thing, and validate that I was right, she was wrong, but they wish neither of us had been led to leave over it. So we get our jobs back. But there is an unspoken animosity. About a week later, Coozy comes to visit. He and I are chatting when we are abducted. When we awaken, we are in a giant hall/room where this evil king-like dude tells us we have to solve puzzles or he'll kill us. He's gathered everyone to watch and cheer us on or see our deaths. So, the entire student staff is there, Rich is there, Maigan, the higher ups, etc. During the first round, Coozy is useless and tries to run away. I end up solving the puzzle last minute to stay alive. After getting a few more, it gets to the final round. If I win, I live. Otherwise, the axe. Everyone is on edge, scared that I might not make it. But she is just there, cold shouldered and disinterested. I end up winning. I'm ecstatic, jumping up and down, celebrating, starting to hug people. People come to hug me. She just looks over, kinda disappointed, and leave. I went after her and we chatted for a minute, but despite my attempts to fix things, Maigan was very sharp-tongued and stormed off.
I am awake but husband asleep. He cuddles me tightly, I call his name to wake him up. He wakes up and calls my name. I wake up and realise it all a dream
I dreamed that I was walking in a neighborhood that seemed familiar in my dream but I didn't recognize it while awake. I turned a corner and saw a little old lady moving stuff from her house to her car, I said hello like I knew her and helped her a little, I guess. She then told me she was moving and that I could have her house. She said, "You can stay here, you can have it, I know you'll take good care of it", and I did stay. It was a little white house with a raised lawn, 3 steps to go from the sidewalk onto the front lawn and then a pathway to the front stairs and door. After that, I just remember being in the kitchen with my mom, my dad, my little sister, my older sister, and my older brother. My dad had just finished installing a kitchen light and I was sitting on a stool. We were all happy and smiling and they were getting ready to leave me in my new house.
I feel am very much awake and I feel someone trying to squeeze the life out of me. It's like a hug and then it tightens. I try to struggle but it won't let go and I want to awake but cannot
I had a dream that I was at an amusement park at night, and this cyborg robot was chasing after me, and I burned in fire. In the dream, I woke up and was in my room. I was half awake. I kept looking out of the window, and the robot, now a large giant, kept approaching my house, and kept repeating doing so. I saw a child superhero running in slow motion as I drifted off, and I began drawing black candles on my ceiling, and I lit them, and the flames lit up. I descended into darkness, and I began hearing a dark voice, which said "Aren't you afraid of the shadows and the dark?" I then saw an encyclopedia page with a red background on this fake dictator, and his symbol was a hammer of might. And then, I realized, that I was the emperor.
Arguing with daughter...physical fighting with people that are meant to be her friends but I don't know these people in my dream and we are doing this at my mothers house,she is deceased and the home is sold now. calling a friend for help. He arrives and I awake . still thinking about the dream...

Seeing someone through a window die gruesomely with a splat of blood on the window, fall backwards off the window ledge and hit the ground hard and not awaken until woke by a stranger.
