We were on a desert rock and I saw him standing under the gold awning. I walked straight toward him and he looked at me; he was awaiting my approach. He leaned on a golden countertop. I reached him. "Your teeth," he said. "Is there anything wrong with them?" I asked. "No," he said. "They're beautiful." We grabbed each others hand and began walking along the counter. And he kept praising me. "Your smile! Your hair!" The golden counter narrowed down as we walked along it until it vanished. When it did, we embraced. We both let out a sigh of relief, grabbing each other as hard as we could. "I love you, Joey," I told him. "I'll wait for you, Kansas," he said as he kissed me. "I'll do anything for you."

I was sitting at home, reading. All of a sudden, my mom came in crying, telling me that Alex Kavalchuk, a man who I am very close to and very much in love with, had died in a bombing at his Air Force base in South Korea. We flew to his home state, New York, to attend the funeral.
